Ethos
At the heart of Birdsong is the understanding that soil, plants, animals, humans — and everything in between — exist within one interconnected living ecosystem. In this web of life, the health of each part influences the health of the whole. We realize we are living in a pivotal moment as a species, and the choices we make in how we care for land, grow food, and tend to one another will shape the future of our ecosystems and communities. Through regenerative farming, herbalism, art, and outdoor education, we strive to live in right relationship with the ecosystems we inhabit. Birdsong serves as both a working farm and a place of education, committed to restoration from the soil up.
Christian is the founder of Birdsong Botanicals, a farmer, herbalist, and outdoor educator. He began his herbal studies at the School of Evolutionary Herbalism in 2015 and later completed a three-year clinical program at Vital Ways Institute in Portland. In 2024, he moved to McMinnville to begin his newest farming venture with Birdsong.
He has worked in small-scale organic farming since 2014 and has led homeschool pods, summer camps, and Waldorf farm education in the greater Portland area. Through Birdsong, he integrates his love of plants, farming, and working with kids in service to this garden planet.
